Team Karma takes on Umbilical Cord Blood Donation Campaign

Amar Karma Organ Donation Society is pioneering at launching its new campaign called THE CORD OF LOVE into the community core, which is to raise awareness about donating the umbilical Cord at the birth of a baby.

The Karma Society, Canada's  first South Asian organization to highlight  the need for organ and tissue  donation in GTA, B.C and India for past 6 years is now stepping up to educate people about donation of Umbilical  Cord Blood in coordination  with Canadian Blood Services. 
Group Karma comprises of mainly youth, and an 11 year old, Radhika Goyal, has been busy crocheting baby booties and hats to raise funds for the campaign THE CORD OF LOVE. 

Radhika has just finished her grade 5 at Marvin Heights School and is proving to be an inspiration for the members of the group.

 "We're very excited as we introduce our new campaign and kids like Radhika are affirming our determination to take our message to masses, “Guru Pabla, an enthusiast team member said to media.

The founder of the organization Loveen Kaur Gill along with her spouse Ajit Singh are pleased that they are involved in the campaign after donating their baby's Umbilical Cord in August.

The official information seminar for community has been planned for October 4, 2015 between 1pm-5pm in Brampton; location will be announced on organization’s website in days to come.

The speakers from Canadian Blood Services will be present to share detailed information about how the umbilical cord blood donation works. 

Today, cord blood stems cells are used in the treatment of nearly 80 diseases, including a wide range of cancers, genetic diseases, and blood disorders. In a cord blood transplant, stem cells are infused in to a patient's bloodstream where they go to work healing and repairing damaged cells and tissue.

The team Karma invites families from the community to attend the seminar to participate in the campaign.
