6th Annual Give a Heart' 2016
‘Give a Heart’ is an annual event that we celebrate for Valentine’s Day, to depict love, care and giving of hearts through registration for organ and tissue donation.
Besides its association with a noble cause, Give a Heart is a platform for our young volunteers to practice and project their skills such as: public speaking, dancing, music etc. And to get rewarded for all the hard work they put in for entire year.
We are hosting our 6th annual Give Heart’2016 on February 6, 2016 in collaboration with Canadian Transplant Association. Amar Karma Organ Donation Society, run by volunteers, is Canada’s first South Asian Organization that was formed to raise awareness about the need for organ donation. The group consists of mainly youth and they have set their minds to normalize a new trend of celebrating Valentine’s Day by educating people to become organ donors.
Feature of the event this year is an exhibit of handy crafts by The Amar Karma Crocheting Club of Morning Star Middle School, especially to support our Cord of Love campaign, designed to promote Umbilical Cord Blood.
For past 5 years, Give a Heart has become a popular event in Greater Toronto Area and over 500 people participate in it each year. Many couples sign up to be donors as well as sixteens come forward to become registered donors on the evening.
Like each year, this event will be jam packed with entertainment, special feature, awards, raffles, dinner and dance and much more! Many couples and teenagers turning sixteen sign up to be donors on this day! Learn more about the upcoming transplant games in Toronto!
In past few years our event has become a "family event" for many families in GTA. In-spite of very little advertisement this year, we're proud to announce that we have now reached the mark of maximum ticket sales, to declare the event SOLD OUT. We’re still accepting sponsorship, donation, raffles and gift hampers; please email actions@amarkarma.org to inquire more about sponsorship or donations.
