9th Annual Give A Heart’2019 is Happening Tomorrow!
Give A Heart adds deeper significance to Valentine’s Day with youth from across the GTA, who want to go a step further and pay more meaningful tribute to the day. In 2011, the event took off when a group of youth turning sixteen celebrated their registration as organ donors in a segment called Special Sixteen. They share their stories and commit to spreading compassion all year, by growing their hair, donating blood, or even just pledging to advocate for the important cause.
Highlights of the Event:
The event is put together by over 70 volunteers, and every individual has his/her story associated with Karma. Fully sold out, the evening will feature salsa and bollywood 
dancing, henna tattoos, raffles, and awards. Along with that, advocates as young as grade 5 students will take a 1-minute challenge to tell an important story in a segment called Advocate Speakers. Besides, there will be an exhibit of paintings to display the meaning of what team Karma stands for. And much more….
Amar Karma is Canada’s first non-profit organization dedicated to promoting organ donation among South Asian-origin communities and the larger diaspora, across religious and cultural divides, in order to ensure that organs can be made available to those most in need on transplant waiting lists. Following extensive research about the shortage of organs and tissue available for transplant, the Amar Karma Organ Donation Society was founded in 2008 to raise awareness about the critical need to be registered donors mainly among the South Asian communities, which has since extended to Canadians. After creating impactful buzz about organ and tissue donation, the group took upon the task to focus on spreading the word about more aspects of health and wellness such as Umbilical Cord Blood Donation for bone marrow searchers, and persons struggling with other challenges that affect their overall health. Team Karma hopes its efforts can make collective strides in contributing to a healthier society as the group continues to be a support system for many families.
